We are currently raising funds in order to fully cover the cost of the food scrap drop off service for the entire Medford Growers Market season. This year, Rogue Valley Food System Network is supporting the efforts of the Community Compost Coalition (CCC) which is helping local farms expand their composting activity. The project collaborators are Rogue Produce / Community Compost for transport and logistics, Ashland Community Composting for transport and bokashi composting, Southern Oregon Food Solutions (SOFS) for Community Outreach and three receiving farms: Fry Family Farm, Evers Ridge Farm and Joy Luck Farm for the composting process.

The project collaborators are so grateful for the community support we have received thus far on this journey, and we are also passionate about – and committed to – expanding composting activity in this region, Please consider supporting this important project that will help our local farms, and turn the environmental problem of food waste into an environmental solution.

In addition to Ashland Rotary Club, Ashland Food Co-Op and RVFSN, we’d like to acknowledge the support and guidance we’ve also received from SOCAN, RV Growers Market, Ashland Climate Collaborative, Peace House, The Water League, Ashland Bellview Grange #759 and Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance.

Community support can manifest in different ways. Donations, of course, are always welcome, but there will also be tabling opportunities, and if you’re affiliated with groups, you can invite a member of the project to present about our efforts to your group. HOA’s, community groups or churches would make great groups to present to. Or perhaps you’d like to start a subscription collection service for your own household or you’d like to talk to your neighbors about forming a neighborhood drop site.

Composting puts more life into the soil, and Community Composting puts more life into the Community.
